Iranian media reported that retaliatory action was launched early Thursday against an American airbase allegedly linked to a U.S. predawn aerial strike on a site near Bandar Abbas Airport.

Iranian officials described the action as a “serious warning” to the United States, saying any further attacks “will not go unanswered” and warning that future responses would be “more decisive.”

“The aggressor bears full responsibility for the consequences,” the statement said.

“Kuwait Intercepts Missile and Drone Attacks”

Separately, Kuwait News Agency reported that the General Command of the Kuwait Armed Forces said Kuwaiti air defense systems were intercepting hostile missile and drone attacks.

The military said explosion sounds heard in some areas were the result of air defense systems engaging incoming targets.

Kuwaiti authorities urged residents to follow security and safety instructions issued by the relevant authorities.

The United States has not immediately commented on the reported retaliatory strike.

Iran missile aimed at Kuwait intercepted, U.S. says

Iran launched a ballistic missile toward Kuwait late on May 27 that was intercepted by Kuwaiti forces, while multiple attack drones near the Strait of Hormuz were also shot down, according to a post by the U.S. Central Command on X.

U.S. Central Command said the missile was launched at 10:17 p.m. ET and described it as a ceasefire violation by Iran. The command added that Iranian forces had earlier launched five one-way attack drones that posed a threat in and near the Strait of Hormuz. It said all five drones were intercepted by U.S. forces, which also prevented the launch of a sixth drone from an Iranian ground control site in Bandar Abbas.

The U.S. military command said it remained “vigilant and measured” alongside regional partners in defending U.S. forces and interests against what it called “unjustified Iranian aggression.”
