The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has welcomed the inclusion of Israeli authorities and institutions in the United Nations Secretary-General’s annual report on conflict-related sexual violence, describing the move as a significant step toward accountability and justice for Palestinian victims.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the OIC General Secretariat said it supported the UN decision to include Israeli authorities and institutions among parties suspected of committing conflict-related sexual violence, citing documented information, testimonies and evidence verified through UN mechanisms.
The organization described the inclusion as a “legal and humanitarian victory” for Palestinian victims and said it would contribute to efforts aimed at achieving justice, accountability and ending impunity.
According to the statement, the OIC views the UN report as an important international legal and political document that highlights allegations of systematic violations against Palestinian detainees and civilians. The organization said the findings could support future accountability efforts under international law.
The OIC also renewed its call on the international community to take what it described as decisive action to halt ongoing violations, ensure accountability for those responsible under international criminal law, and strengthen protection for Palestinians.
The statement follows the release of the UN Secretary-General’s annual report on conflict-related sexual violence, which documents verified incidents worldwide and identifies parties credibly suspected of committing such violations.
