An Israeli airstrike struck the immediate vicinity of Hiram Hospital in the southern Lebanese city of Tyre on Sunday, leaving 13 staff members injured and causing significant structural damage to the medical facility.
In a statement issued by the ministry’s Public Health Emergency Operations Center, Lebanese authorities attributed the strike to Israel and said it caused extensive damage to the hospital, adding to damage the facility had sustained in previous attacks.
The ministry said the injured were members of the hospital’s workforce.
Lebanese health authorities praised the hospital staff for continuing to provide medical services despite the security risks and damage to the facility.
“The hospital’s team remains steadfast in serving residents despite all the dangers,” the ministry said.
The ministry also renewed its appeal to the international community to intervene, calling for an end to what it described as an escalation and expansion of Israeli attacks. It further alleged that the operations were being conducted without regard for international humanitarian law and international norms.
