U.S. President Donald J Trump on Thursday claimed that Israel and Lebanon have agreed to begin a 10-day ceasefire, following what he described as “excellent conversations” with both sides’ leadership.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump said he spoke with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, stating that the two leaders had agreed to formally initiate a ceasefire starting at 5 p.m. EST.
Trump further revealed that representatives from both countries met in Washington, D.C., marking what he described as their first meeting in 34 years. The talks were held with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
He said he has directed Vice President JD Vance, along with Rubio and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Dan Caine, to work with both nations toward achieving a “lasting peace.”

Trump also indicated plans to invite Netanyahu and Aoun to the White House for what he called the first “meaningful talks” between Israel and Lebanon since 1983.
The U.S. President expressed optimism about the outcome, stating that both sides are interested in peace and that a resolution could come “quickly.”
However, there has been no immediate official confirmation from either Israeli or Lebanese authorities regarding the ceasefire announcement.
