Lebanon’s Ministry of Public Health said on Monday that the Israeli war in Lebanon has caused at least 16,453 deaths and injuries since March 2, according to its latest operational update.
According to the ministry’s summary, the number of deaths reached 4,257 while the injuries amounted to 12,196 for the period of March 2-June 29. The number of casualties therefore totaled to 16,453.
The conflict has also taken a heavy toll on Lebanon’s healthcare system. The ministry said 17 hospitals have been damaged and three have been forced to close.
It reported 176 attacks affecting emergency medical services, with 39 EMS and 175 emergency vehicles damaged. A total of 135 healthcare personnel have been killed, including 130 emergency medical service workers and five healthcare workers, while 406 others have been injured.
According to the ministry, 19 emergency medical teams are currently operating across 29 hospitals, supported by 61 deployed personnel and 70 registered staff.
