India will host the BRICS Foreign Ministers’ Meeting on May 14-15, bringing together top diplomats and senior delegates from BRICS member and partner countries, India’s Ministry of External Affairs said on Tuesday.
The meeting in New Delhi will be chaired by Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar. Delegates attending the gathering are also expected to call on Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Foreign ministers of BRICS member countries are expected to discuss key global and regional developments during the two-day meeting. A session titled “BRICS@20: Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability” is scheduled for the second day, followed by talks on reforming global governance and the multilateral system.
Separately, the Embassy of Iran in India said Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi will travel to New Delhi to participate in the meeting.
According to the Iranian statement, discussions under India’s chairmanship will focus on regional stability, multilateral cooperation and economic resilience. Araghchi is also expected to hold bilateral talks with Jaishankar and other participating ministers and officials, Iranian embassy said.
The foreign ministers’ meeting is being seen as a precursor to the 18th BRICS Summit, which is due to be held in New Delhi in September under India’s presidency of the bloc.
The last BRICS Foreign Ministers’ Meeting was held on Sept. 26, 2025, on the sidelines of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, where India chaired discussions as the incoming BRICS chair for 2026.
