U.S. President Donald J. Trump announced on Monday that he has brokered an agreement to de-escalate the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hezbollah.
In a social media post, Trump said he had a “very productive” phone call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and claimed that no troops would be sent to Beirut.
Trump stated that any troops already en route to the Lebanese capital had been ordered to turn back. He further said that, through what he described as “highly placed representatives,” he had communicated with Hezbollah and that the group had agreed to halt all shooting.

According to Trump, the understanding reached would see Israel refrain from attacking Hezbollah, while Hezbollah would likewise cease attacks on Israel.
In a separate post, U.S. President Donald Trump said talks with the Islamic Republic of Iran were continuing “at a rapid pace,” signaling that diplomatic contacts between Washington and Tehran remain ongoing despite recent regional tensions.
Meanwhile, Iranian state-affiliated media reported that Trump’s announcement came after Tehran warned of possible attacks on what it referred to as the “occupied territories” and suspended message exchanges with Washington over Israeli military operations in Lebanon.
