Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam has condemned ongoing Israeli military actions affecting southern Lebanon, calling for an immediate ceasefire and renewed international efforts to secure stability along the country’s southern border.

In a statement, Salam criticized what he described as continued attacks on the regions of Tyre and Nabatieh, alleging damage to historical landmarks and repeated warnings urging residents to leave their homes.

“Nothing can justify the ongoing assaults on my regions of Tyre and Nabatieh and the destruction of their historical landmarks,” Salam said, adding that threats against civilians and calls for displacement amounted to collective punishment prohibited under international law.

The Lebanese premier said the developments reinforced the need for an immediate halt to hostilities and efforts aimed at securing a full Israeli withdrawal from Lebanese territory.

Salam also reiterated support for extending the authority of the Lebanese state across all parts of the country and ensuring that displaced residents can return to their homes safely and with dignity.

“We continue to mobilize all Arab and international support to achieve that. This is our national duty and our unwavering right,” he said.

The remarks come amid heightened tensions along the Lebanon-Israel border and growing international concern over the humanitarian and security situation in southern Lebanon.
