Bahrain on Saturday accused Iran of launching drones that targeted its territory before dawn, calling the incident a violation of its sovereignty and a threat to the safety of citizens and residents.
In a statement issued by the Foreign Ministry, Bahrain said the attack came despite ongoing regional and international efforts to reduce tensions. It accused Tehran of undermining peace initiatives and destabilising the region through continued hostile actions.
The ministry said Bahrain reserves the right to defend its sovereignty, security and stability in accordance with international law. It also urged the United Nations Security Council to ensure implementation of its resolutions and hold those responsible accountable.
