Hostile drones struck Terminal 1 of Kuwait International Airport on Wednesday, causing significant damage to the passenger facility and injuring several people, according to Kuwaiti authorities. The attack was blamed on Iran and comes amid heightened tensions in the Gulf region.
In a statement, Brigadier General Saud Abdulaziz Al-Otaibi, the official spokesperson for Kuwait’s Ministry of Defense, said the drones targeted the passenger terminal as a result of what he described as “criminal Iranian aggression.”
The spokesperson said the attack caused extensive material damage to the terminal building and left a number of people injured. Those hurt in the incident received the necessary medical treatment, he added.
Al-Otaibi said the Kuwaiti Armed Forces were closely monitoring the situation in coordination with relevant authorities and remained on full alert to respond to any developments.
He added that all necessary measures were being taken to safeguard the country’s security and stability.
