Tensions in the Gulf region escalated further after the United Arab Emirates condemned what it described as Iranian attacks involving drones and missiles, targeting both a commercial vessel and civilian sites.

According to the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, an ADNOC-affiliated national oil carrier was targeted by drones while transiting the Strait of Hormuz. The UAE said no injuries were reported in the incident and denounced it as a violation of international law and freedom of navigation. The ministry denounced the attack as a “flagrant violation” of international law and UN Security Council resolution guaranteeing freedom of navigation.

In a separate statement, the UAE strongly condemned what it called “renewed unprovoked Iranian aggression,” alleging missile and drone attacks on civilian sites and facilities within the country. The ministry said the attacks resulted in injuries to three Indian nationals.

The UAE described the incidents as a “dangerous escalation” and an unacceptable act of aggression, warning that such actions pose a direct threat to national security, regional stability, and global energy flows.

Abu Dhabi said it reserves the right to respond to these attacks in accordance with international law, emphasizing that it will not tolerate threats to its sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The ministry also called for an immediate halt to hostilities, stressing the need to protect civilians and ensure the security of international maritime routes. It held Iran fully responsible for the attacks and their consequences.

The developments mark a sharp escalation in tensions in the Gulf region, raising concerns over wider instability and potential disruptions to global oil supply routes.

The latest developments mark a sharp deterioration in the already fragile security situation in the West Asia, raising fears of wider regional conflict and disruption to one of the world’s most critical oil transit routes.
