Tensions in the Gulf region have risen sharply after Iran and the United States issued conflicting statements about the strategic Strait of Hormuz.

According to Iranian state media, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy confirmed it launched missiles and drones as a warning toward U.S. warships approaching the Strait of Hormuz in an attempt to challenge Iran’s control over the key waterway in the Persian Gulf.

However, the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) rejected claims that any American vessel had been hit. In a post on X, CENTCOM stated that “no U.S. Navy ships have been struck,” dismissing Iranian reports of a missile attack.

The U.S. military added that its forces remain engaged in supporting “Project Freedom” while enforcing a naval blockade on Iranian ports, underscoring ongoing operational activity in the region.

The exchange of claims highlights a renewed spike in tensions in one of the world’s most critical maritime corridors, raising concerns over potential escalation and disruptions to global shipping routes.
