Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi held a phone conversation with UN Secretary-General António Guterres on Monday night to discuss recent developments in West Asia, including tensions involving Iran and Lebanon.

According to Iran’s foreign ministry, Araghchi accused the United States and Israel of military aggression against Iran and called on the United Nations to condemn the actions and hold those responsible accountable under the UN Charter.

He also said insecurity in the region was linked to the broader regional situation, urging the international community to address what he described as the root causes of instability.

Araghchi further condemned Israeli actions in Lebanon, warning that continued inaction over what he termed violations in the occupied Palestinian territories and neighbouring countries could lead to wider regional insecurity.

During the call, Guterres shared his views on the situation in the Persian Gulf region, West Asia and maritime security.
