India’s Ministry of External Affairs on Thursday strongly condemned the attack on an Indian-flagged commercial vessel off the coast of Oman, describing the incident as “unacceptable” and expressing concern over continued threats to civilian maritime navigation in the region.
In an official statement, the ministry said the targeting of commercial shipping and civilian mariners remains a serious concern and stressed that such actions threaten freedom of navigation and international commerce.
The government confirmed that all Indian crew members aboard the vessel are safe following the incident. New Delhi also expressed gratitude to Omani authorities for their swift response and rescue efforts.
“India reiterates that targeting commercial shipping and endangering innocent civilian crew members, or otherwise impeding freedom of navigation and commerce, should be avoided,” the statement said.
