Sources said dozens of other students were injured in the incident and were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment.
According to the information, the school building was directly hit, causing severe destruction and trapping several students under debris.
The strike came amid a wider military escalation following reported attacks by the United States and Israel on multiple locations across Iran earlier in the day.
Iranian authorities have strongly condemned the incident, calling it an attack on a civilian educational institution. Officials in both Washington and Jerusalem have not issued specific statements regarding the school strike reports.
Seyed Abbas Araghchi, the Foreign Minister of Iran, strongly condemned the attack, saying in a post on X that the destroyed building was a girls’ primary school in southern Iran that was struck in broad daylight while full of students. He stated that dozens of innocent children were killed in the bombing and warned that such crimes against the Iranian people would not go unanswered.
Emergency teams and local residents continue rescue and debris removal operations at the site as families search for information about their children. The tragedy represents one of the first confirmed incidents of civilian casualties reported inside Iran since the escalation began.
