The UAE Ministry of Defense said the country’s air defences engaged multiple aerial threats on May 4, including ballistic missiles, cruise missiles and drones originating from Iran, resulting in injuries.

In a statement, the ministry said air defences intercepted 12 ballistic missiles, three cruise missiles and four drones, with three people sustaining moderate injuries.

Since the start of what it described as Iran’s attacks on the United Arab Emirates, air defences have engaged a total of 549 ballistic missiles, 29 cruise missiles and 2,260 drones.

The ministry said the total number of injuries has reached 227, involving multiple nationalities, including Emirati, Egyptian, Sudanese, Ethiopian, Filipino, Pakistani, Iranian, Indian, Bangladeshi, Sri Lankan and others.

It added that the total number of fatalities stands at three, including a Moroccan civilian contracted with the armed forces. Civilian deaths were reported at 10, from several nationalities including Pakistani, Nepali, Bangladeshi, Palestinian, Indian and Egyptian.

The ministry said it remains on high alert and ready to respond to any threats, pledging to confront attempts to undermine national security and to safeguard the country’s sovereignty, stability and strategic interests.

Iran Denies Attacks on UAE

Iranian state media reported that the country’s armed forces denied carrying out any missile or drone attacks on the UAE, dismissing the UAE Defence Ministry’s claims as false and baseless. It also reported that Iran warned UAE officials their country “must not become a haven for Americans and Zionists,” calling it a betrayal of the Islamic world.
