Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau has announced new appointments for senior public service positions, set to take effect later this month.

Sandra McCardell, who currently serves as Assistant Deputy Minister in the International Affairs Branch of Environment and Climate Change Canada, will be stepping into the role of Associate Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs on July 22, 2024.

John Moffet, also an Assistant Deputy Minister within Environment and Climate Change Canada, will become the Associate Deputy Minister of Environment and Climate Change, effective the same date.

Mark Schaan, presently the Senior Assistant Deputy Minister of the Strategy and Innovation Policy Sector at Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada, will assume the position of Deputy Secretary to the Cabinet (Artificial Intelligence) at the Privy Council Office on July 29, 2024.

In addition to these appointments, Prime Minister Trudeau expressed his gratitude to David Vigneault for his dedicated service as Director of the Canadian Security Intelligence Service and extended his best wishes for Vigneault’s future endeavors.
