Ludhiana, January 25: Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria visited the Gaushala Point of Buddha Dariya on Saturday and announced plans to conduct monthly on-site meetings to closely oversee the Buddha Dariya Rejuvenation Project.
Joined by Rajya Sabha MP Balbir Singh Seechewal, MLA Ashok Parashar Pappi, Mayor Inderjeet Kaur, MC Commissioner Aaditya Dachalwal, and officials from various departments, the Governor shared that two review meetings have already been held at the Raj Bhawan to assess the project’s progress.
Starting February, monthly meetings will take place at the Gaushala Point in Ludhiana. These sessions will bring together MPs, MLAs, officials, NGOs, and other stakeholders to accelerate efforts to rejuvenate Buddha Dariya before the monsoon season. The initiative will be supported by Balbir Singh Seechewal, who is actively involved in Kar Sewa (voluntary service) at the site.
Governor Kataria emphasized the need to transform the rejuvenation of Buddha Dariya into a mass movement. He suggested dividing the 14-kilometer stretch into segments to expedite cleaning and encouraged public participation to protect the Sutlej River from pollutants.
The Governor later visited the 225-MLD Sewage Treatment Plant in Jamalpur to review its operations.
