The X account of Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), a viral satirical political page, has been withheld in India. Supporters of the party have criticized the action, saying it raises concerns about democratic values and freedom of expression in the country.
The X account had amassed around 200,000 followers before it was withheld in India in response to a legal demand.

CJP shared this post on Instagram after its X account was withheld in India.
The restriction came as CJP continued to gain massive traction on Instagram, where it now has 14.2 million followers. Around 12 hours earlier, CJP had surpassed the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) follower count on the platform, when the ruling party had about 8.7 million followers. The BJP’s Instagram following has since risen to 8.8 million. CJP has now also overtaken the Congress (INC) party’s 13.3 million followers on Instagram.
Known for its political satire and cockroach-themed content targeting the ruling BJP, the Cockroach Janta Party’s social media platforms have rapidly gained popularity in recent days amid heightened online political discourse. Its X account is no longer accessible to users in India.
Following the withholding of its X account, CJP criticized Modi government. The party also questioned the move in a social media (Instagram) post, asking: “Why are they so scared of us?”
The Cockroach Janta Party originated on May 16, 2026, according to the movement’s website. The party was founded by 30-year-old Abhijeet Dipke, who is based in the United States.
In a post shared on the party’s Instagram page, Dipke stated that CJP’s Instagram account had faced hacking attempts. He added that its X account has been withheld in India, even though the party had not posted anything wrong. He also urged followers to question why the account had been blocked in the country.
