Cuba has warned that it will exercise its right to self-defense if attacked, amid renewed tensions with the United States.
In a statement posted on X, the Cuban Foreign Ministry said, “If Cuba is attacked, it will exercise its right to legitimate self-defense.”
Meanwhile, The Cuban Embassy in the United States issued a sharp rebuke against Washington, defending its sovereign right to military preparedness and accusing U.S. officials of fabricating a “ludicrous pretext” to justify potential military aggression against the island nation. The statement was posted on social media platform X by the Cuban Embassy.
“Like any country, Cuba has the right to defend itself against external aggression,” the Embassy statement read. “It is called self-defense, and it is protected by International Law and the UN Charter. Those from the US who seek the submission and, in fact, the destruction of the Cuban nation through military aggression and war, do not waste a single moment fabricating pretexts, creating and spreading falsehoods, and distorting as extraordinary the logical preparation required to face a potential aggression.”
