Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, the Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, issued a stern series of statements on X addressing ongoing tensions with the United States and the strategic status of the Strait of Hormuz.

Ghalibaf directly challenged the credibility of the U.S. administration, asserting that the President of the United States made seven false claims within a single hour. He emphasized that misinformation would not yield results for the U.S. in either military or diplomatic spheres.

“They did not win the war with these lies, and they will certainly not get anywhere in negotiations either,” Ghalibaf stated.

In a significant escalation regarding maritime policy, the Speaker warned that the Strait of Hormuz would not remain open if the current U.S. blockade continues. He outlined a transition toward stricter Iranian oversight of the waterway saying that passage through the Strait of Hormuz will be conducted based on the “designated route” and with “Iranian authorization.”

Ghalibaf noted that the status of the Strait and its governing regulations will be determined by “the field” rather than social media.

Addressing the broader information climate, Ghalibaf characterized recent developments as a form of “media warfare” aimed at engineering public opinion. He maintained that the Iranian nation remains unaffected by such “tricks” and directed those seeking accurate information on negotiations to the recent interview of the Foreign Ministry spokesman.
