Jagraon/Swaddi Kalan: Arvinder Kaur, a resident of Swaddi Kalan village, has broken new ground by becoming the first female drone pilot in her region, setting a powerful example for other women to follow. Her achievement has not only brought her recognition but has also inspired many women in her community.

Arvinder received specialized training from Chambal Fertilizer Company. After completing the training, she was provided with a drone for pesticide spraying on crops, a role she now excels at in her area.

Arvinder shared that the advent of drone spraying technology has revolutionized agriculture. She emphasized that the technology not only saves both pesticides and time but also allows for spraying an entire acre in just seven minutes, leading to a 15% increase in crop yield.

A member of a self-help group (SHG) under the Punjab State Rural Livelihood Mission, Arvinder was motivated by Block Program Manager Navdeep Singh to pursue drone training. She underwent a 10-day course at the DGCA (Directorate General of Civil Aviation) training center in Manesar, Gurugram, and earned her drone pilot certification.

Arvinder explained that using drones in agriculture saves both time and money. Spraying one acre of land with a drone takes just 7 minutes and costs Rs 300, excluding the cost of pesticides. She expressed her satisfaction in working in this field and encouraged other women to follow her example.

She urged women across Punjab to join hands with their families and embrace modern agricultural technologies to make farming a more profitable venture.

Meanwhile, Navdeep Singh, the Block Program Manager, highlighted that women in the Siddhwan Bet Block are also involved in producing various items like pickles, papads, vermicompost, phulkari, soap, candles, makki ki roti, sarson ka saag, and haldi ki pinniyan. These products are sold at fairs, shops, and even through platforms like Amazon.
