Ludhiana, January 18: The Public Action Committee (PAC) unveiled its newly published booklet, “Mother Earth” here on Saturday. This initiative is the result of collaborative efforts by PAC team members, environmental advocates, and representatives from various organizations, NGOs, and community groups working to protect the Mattewara Jungles, River Sutlej, and Buddha Dariya in Ludhiana.
Col CM Lakhanpal, a PAC member focusing on the Mattewara Jungles, River Sutlej, and Buddha Dariya, shared that the booklet aims to raise awareness about critical environmental issues. It emphasizes the importance of conservation, sustainable resource use, and proper waste disposal. The booklet offers practical insights on preserving and enhancing natural resources, with topics covering water, air, soil, waste management, public health, green development, and the enforcement of environmental laws. Its overarching goal is to foster ecological balance and sustainable growth, ensuring a healthier, greener planet for future generations.
“Designed to engage readers, especially the youth, the booklet seeks to inspire active participation in creating a cleaner, more sustainable, and eco-friendly environment. It encourages community involvement in conserving and enriching the natural resources provided by Mother Earth”, he said.
The booklet was officially launched by two students from the Ramgarhia Council of Education, who will act as ambassadors for the cause, motivating others to adopt creative and committed approaches to environmental conservation. The event was presided over by Ranjodh Singh, Chairman of the Ramgarhia Group of Council, and attended by prominent environmentalists and social activists.
Currently available in English, the booklet’s Punjabi and Hindi translations are nearing completion and will be released soon. It will be distributed free of cost to students in schools and colleges, as well as to other interested individuals.
Col Lakhanpal said the PAC extends heartfelt thanks to everyone who supported this initiative and invites further contributions to spread the message of environmental conservation. “Together, we can make a lasting impact on the future of our planet”, he added.
