Rakesh Parashar Elected Senior Deputy Mayor, Prince Johar as Deputy Mayor

Ludhiana, January 20: After much anticipation, Ludhiana has its first-ever woman Mayor. Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) Principal Inderjit Kaur has been elected to the historic position. Alongside her, Rakesh Parashar and Prince Johar have been elected as Senior Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayor, respectively.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and AAP Punjab President Aman Arora extended their congratulations to the newly elected officials.

Addressing the media, Aman Arora called the day a landmark moment for Ludhiana. “Electing the city’s first woman Mayor is a proud milestone. With an experienced team, including Senior Deputy Mayor Rakesh Parashar, Ludhiana is set for transformative growth,” he said.

Development and Cleanliness: Top Priorities

Arora assured Ludhiana residents that stalled projects would be expedited, and new initiatives launched to make the city cleaner and more livable. “Providing basic amenities and ensuring cleanliness will be our primary focus,” he added.

Oath Ceremony and Tributes

The newly elected councilors of Ludhiana Municipal Corporation took their oaths, administered by Divisional Commissioner Patiala, Daljit Singh Mangat. Senior party leaders and MLAs were present to witness the historic occasion.

Following the ceremony, Mayor Inderjit Kaur, along with other elected leaders, visited Gurdwara Dukhniwaran Sahib and Durga Mata Mandir to seek blessings. They also paid homage to martyrs Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Shaheed Rajguru, and Shaheed Sukhdev, as well as Dr. BR Ambedkar.

The new leadership has pledged to work diligently to fulfill the aspirations of Ludhiana’s residents and usher in a new era of development.
