Ludhiana, January 16: Established under the ‘Kar Sewa’ initiated by Rajya Sabha MP Balbir Singh Seechewal, the temporary pumping station at Gaushala point of ‘Buddha Dariya’ has been made functional with the first motor made operational on Thursday.

Flow of sewer waste has been diverted from Gaushala point towards Jamalpur STP, and this sewer waste would now be properly treated at the STP Jamalpur before it gets into the ‘Dariya’.

MP Seechewal stated that the ‘Kar Sewa’ to establish the temporary pumping station was kick-started on December 31. The pumping station has been established with the help of Sangat/’Kar sewaks’ in a record time period of just 16 days. The motor was made operational after performing an ‘Ardas’ at the site on Thursday. The electricity panels for the remaining two motors would also be installed soon, and those motors would also be made operational within this week.

MP Seechewal said that the state government led by Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann is committed to rejuvenating the ‘Buddha Dariya,’ and regular efforts are being made for the same. Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan and Local Bodies Minister Dr. Ravjot Singh have also been visiting the site, which shows that serious efforts are being made to clean ‘Buddha Dariya.’

Later in the evening, MP Seechewal conducted an inspection in Tajpur Road dairy complex and then conducted a meeting with the officials of Punjab Water Supply and Sewerage Board (PWSSB), Municipal Corporation (MC), Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB), police, among other departments, at the 225mld Jamalpur STP on Tajpur Road.

Strict directions were issued to the concerned officials to take action against violators over dumping of dairy waste/cow dung into ‘Buddha Dariya.’
