3500 players from all states, UTs, will participate in four games
Ludhiana, December 3: Ludhiana is set to host the 68th National School Games from December 11 to 17, with over 3,500 players from across India participating in four major sports. Deputy Commissioner Jitendra Jorwal has directed officials to ensure meticulous arrangements for the week-long event, which will bring together athletes from all states, Union Territories, Kendriya Vidyalayas, Navodaya Vidyalayas, and Vidya Bharti Schools.
During a preparatory meeting at the district administrative complex, Jorwal emphasized the need for comprehensive provisions for accommodation, food, medical services, security, and transportation to ensure a smooth experience for participants. The matches will be held at various locations, including Government Senior Secondary Smart School (PAU), the Multipurpose Hall at Guru Nanak Stadium, and BVM School.
Key sports to be featured in the games include Netball (under-17 boys and girls), Handball (under-19 boys and girls), Judo (under-19 boys and girls), and Karate (under-14 boys and girls). Deputy Commissioner Jorwal instructed officials to install CCTV cameras and deploy Police Control Room (PCR) teams at the venues to bolster security.
School Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains will inaugurate the event on December 11 at Guru Nanak Stadium. Speaking on the occasion, Jorwal highlighted that the games are a crucial platform for young athletes to demonstrate their talents.
He urged the education and sports departments to collaborate closely and tasked senior officials with personally overseeing player logistics, including accommodation and travel arrangements. The event is expected to be a landmark occasion in promoting school sports in the region.
ADC (G) Amarjit Bains, DEO Dimple Tandon, DSO Kuldeep Chugh, and other senior officials participated in the meeting to finalize the preparations.
