The State of Qatar has strongly condemned what it described as a “brutal” Iranian attack targeting Ras Laffan Industrial City, which caused fires and led to significant damage to the facility. Authorities called the incident a dangerous escalation, a clear violation of national sovereignty, and a direct threat to both national security and regional stability.

In an official statement, Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the country had maintained neutrality since the beginning of the conflict and had avoided involvement in any escalation. Despite this, the ministry accused Iran of continuing to target Qatar and neighboring countries, describing the approach as irresponsible and harmful to regional security and international peace.

The ministry emphasized that Qatar had repeatedly urged all sides to refrain from targeting civilian infrastructure and energy facilities, including those within Iran, in order to protect regional resources and preserve global stability. However, it said Iran’s continued escalation risks widening the conflict and drawing in countries not directly involved.

Qatar also stated that the attack constitutes a violation of United Nations Security Council Resolution 2817. It called on the UN Security Council to fulfill its responsibilities in maintaining international peace and security and to take necessary action to stop such violations and hold those responsible accountable.

The statement reaffirmed Qatar’s right to respond under Article 51 of the UN Charter, stressing that the country would take all necessary measures to safeguard its sovereignty, security, and the safety of its citizens and residents.
