Ottawa, March 9: Prime Minister Mark Carney will travel to Norway and the United Kingdom from March 13 to 15 to strengthen defence and security cooperation with allied nations.

According to the Canadian Prime Minister’s Office, Carney will first visit Bardufoss in northern Norway to observe the NATO military exercise Exercise Cold Response, where troops from 14 allied nations will conduct training above the Arctic Circle.

The exercise aims to improve NATO’s readiness and coordination in the Arctic region and includes participation from the alliance’s newest members, Sweden and Finland.

Carney will then travel to Oslo for talks with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre. Discussions will focus on strengthening cooperation in trade, investment, clean energy, critical minerals, and aerospace.

The Canadian leader will also attend a Canada-Nordic summit and meet business leaders to promote Canada as a destination for global investment in defence, artificial intelligence, and natural resources.

Following the Norway visit, Carney will travel to London to meet UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer to discuss collective defence, global economic developments, and the ongoing situation in the Middle East
