Following the brutal Israeli attacks on Lebanon that left hundreds dead and injured, Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi strongly condemned the strikes, describing them as “massacres” and questioning the credibility of the recently announced ceasefire.

Notably, the escalation came just hours after a ceasefire between the United States and Iran was announced by U.S. President Donald Trump, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, and Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

Reacting to the continued Israeli attacks despite the truce, Araghchi stated that the terms of the Iran–U.S. ceasefire were “clear and explicit,” emphasizing that Washington must choose between upholding the ceasefire or allowing continued war through Israel. It cannot have both, he added.

“The world sees the massacres in Lebanon. The ball is in the U.S. court, and the world is watching whether it will act on its commitments,” he further said.

Meanwhile, Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian has issued a strong warning following renewed Israeli attacks on Lebanon, calling the strikes a “flagrant violation” of the initial ceasefire agreement and a sign of “deception” in ongoing diplomatic efforts.

In a statement, Pezeshkian said that continued aggression against Lebanon undermines the credibility of negotiations and reflects a lack of commitment to potential accords. He cautioned that if such actions persist, diplomatic efforts would become meaningless.

“Our hands remain on the trigger,” the President said, signaling readiness to respond, while reaffirming that Iran would not abandon its “Lebanese brothers and sisters.”

Earlier, Speaker of Iran’s Parliament, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, also issued a strong statement, outlining key positions regarding the ceasefire and the situation in Lebanon. He stressed that Lebanon and allied groups form an integral part of the ceasefire framework and warned that any violations would carry “explicit costs and strong responses.”

Ghalibaf further highlighted that there is “no room for denial or backtracking” on the Lebanon issue and called for an immediate end to hostilities.

The remarks come amid escalating tensions in the region after Israeli forces carried out fresh strikes on Lebanon despite a recently announced ceasefire framework. The developments have raised concerns over the stability of the truce and the prospects for broader peace negotiations.
